<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span id="goog_387453223"></span>Yes, I know what you're thinking, and yes I am on a Daniel Day-Lewis marathon. Believe it or not but I actually never heard of My Left Foot until about 5 months ago or so, and back then I thought "huh, that's a funny movie title.". I never gave it much thought after that until I went ahead and bought every movie Day-Lewis starred in, and yes that's why I'm always broke. Anyways, with Toto playing in the background, let's get on with this, shall we? My Left Foot is a biographical drama about Irish artist and author Christy Brown, who suffered from cerebral palsy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Born into a working class family with a total of thirteen children, Christy suffered from a severe case of cerebral palsy and what deemed "useless" by his father. His mother (Brenda Fricker) on the other hand never gave up hope on him and cared for him to make life seem as normal as possible for him. It wasn't until at the age of ten years that his parents and siblings discover that he had complete control of his left foot when he wrote the word "mother" on the floor of their house with a piece of chalk.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The movie kicks off and we see Christy attending a charity event on his wheelchair, he is then taken in by a nurse named Mary Carr, who cares for him until they call him up to the podium. She picks up his book, titled My Left Foot, and autobiography of Christy's life and begins to read it, the movie then utilizes flashbacks to show us how Christy got to this point in his life.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would like a take a moment of your time to ask to clap your hands until you can't clap anymore. Done? Okay, let's move on. This film deserves a round of applause before the opening credits start to roll. But why Ahmed? Could you please justify why I now need a pack of ice to soothe my aching palms? To put it simply, because of how mind-blowingly good this movie is. Very few movies have impacted me and further refined my taste in motion pictures, but every once in a while I sit through a movie and come out just a tad bit different than I was. My Left Foot inspired me, here I saw a man who broke the barriers of his overwhelming disability and followed his dreams and ambitions. It's a heartwarming matter that was conveyed to us in the form of an uplifting and outstanding motion picture. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There were times while I watching the film where I found myself pausing it multiple times, and taking a moment to absorb Daniel Day-Lewis' exceptional performance as Christy Brown. Day-Lewis blew me into next week with his acting, I've never seen an actor that deconstructs and penetrates the very fabric of the characters he's playing as well as he does. He makes you believe that he's the actual person. In preparation for this role, he spent eight weeks in a cerebral palsy clinic, learned to write and paint using his left foot, and used a wheelchair for the duration of the shoot. His extraordinary attention to detail and dedication to the role make him a method acting genius. Without an ounce of exaggeration, I believe he is the greatest actor who ever lived. He adds tension when needed and utilized his body language to express his feelings and emotions couldn't talk properly, all done of course in a flawless manner. I really got to know Christy Brown, his determination, his struggle for love, and his inner demons. Bravo, sir, Bravo. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To sum up, My Left Foot is a complete powerhouse, it uses raw and honest acting to draw its audience in. We live in a time where the movie industry focuses on battle sequences and cheap laughs to keep the viewer interested, and while some may find this to be "awesome", I for one, am not a big fan.<br />

What is a good movie? The reason I ask is that is because I believe that the phrase "good movie" has been diluted so much over the years. People nowadays will tell you that any Marvel movie is good, or that The Fast and The Furious 7 was good. Sure these movies pack a punch with enough one-liners, gags, and over the top CGI and explosions to satisfy everyone, but since when has the standard been set so low? A lot of people just don't appreciate movies anymore, it seems to me that TV shows nowadays are doing what movies did back in the day. TV shows right now are excellent, they're thought provoking, witty, filled with social commentary, and the actors deliver fantastic performances. That being said, there are a lot of brilliant movies being released nowadays, there's no denying that, but I just feel like they're being overlooked by moviegoers for more "enjoyable" films.<br />
<br />
After watching A Time to Kill for the millionth time on TV, a fire inside me was re-ignited, all of a sudden I found myself wanting to watch every courtroom drama movie I could get my hands on. Courtroom drama, a genre that I dismissed for a long time on the basis of it being "boring", was suddenly my biggest interest. See I go through phases when it comes to watching movies and I gotta say that I'm enjoying this phase very much.<br />

<br />
In The Name of the Father was a biographical film released in 1993 starring Daniel Day-Lewis. Right off the bat, it's Daniel Day-Lewis, so you know that you're gonna be in for a treat. A Northern Irish man and his son are wrongfully imprisoned for a bombing that they had nothing to do with, the movie follows their struggle for freedom, justice, and life with each other in prison.<br />
<br />
How could anyone argue with a movie that starts off with a riot and Voodoo Child playing in the background? That has to be one of the best openings I've seen in a movie, Irish people throwing bricks at security forces, who could beat that? After getting in trouble with the IRA, Gerry moves to London and seeks "Free love and dope". A stroke of luck hits him and we winds up robbing a hooker's apartment and returns to Belfast to show off his newfound "wealth", but all hell breaks loose when the police raid his house and accuse him of bombing a pub in Guildford.<br />
<br />
First time watching the movie I really didn't know what to expect, I was ready to chalk it down as just another courtroom drama, but as I got into it I realized that it is much much deeper than that. The character development is insane, for a movie that's just over two hours long I got to see Gerry Conlon (Day-Lewis) grow from a free-spirited young adult to a mature and passionate man in such detail, with certain events occurring throughout the film that makes him grow ever so slightly until he becomes a totally different person from the one see in the beginning of the film. Character development isn't an easy thing in movies, as opposed to TV shows, but it sure as hell is satisfying when movies get it right. The relationship between father and son is a concept that's is definitely highlighted, Gerry and his father Giuseppe (Pete Postlethwait) went through so much as father and son in terms of their relationship and the discrimination they faced with the public. Although we can tell that Gerry is very critical of his father at first, he never stopped loving him, and eventually, we see that Gerry more or less becomes the same person his dad was.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj60U1R6syT53Rt6YpnoxNLIgY3afa-TqCByMoeSBykkiL0GdYGe9MUYhufaWDxBSCbX3HaB2D5LjHGG5yc6bC-dY5J6TWJJ7edGzcKvCycE3y8L9qPAGxBAFBbmMV0QaLmb0QQI6BvyS4/s1600/Screen-shot-2014-08-26-at-15.13.05.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="348" data-original-width="555" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj60U1R6syT53Rt6YpnoxNLIgY3afa-TqCByMoeSBykkiL0GdYGe9MUYhufaWDxBSCbX3HaB2D5LjHGG5yc6bC-dY5J6TWJJ7edGzcKvCycE3y8L9qPAGxBAFBbmMV0QaLmb0QQI6BvyS4/s400/Screen-shot-2014-08-26-at-15.13.05.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Daniel Day-Lewis carried this film on his shoulders so effortlessly and with such passion. He lost over 50 pounds for the role and maintained his Northern Irish accent on and off set, plus he lived in a jail cell for 3 days. I can't really tell if his accent was good or not because I'm not Irish but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that he did a good job. He's such a skilled actor that really gets into the very bones of every character he's portraying and delivers a stellar performance every time. Emma Thompson and Pete Postlethwait delivered powerful performances as Gareth Peirce and Giuseppe Conlon respectively. Although Emma Thompson's character didn't really make an appearance until the middle to the end of the film, she still managed to make an impact. But what really made this movie stand out was the chemistry between all the actors, especially Day-Lewis and Postlethwait.<br />
<br />
In the Name of the Father did a fantastic job conveying to its audience the oppressive nature of the real-life case of the Guildford Four and the Maguire Seven. The interrogation/confession scenes alone were graphic and detailed enough that it made me uncomfortable at times. It really shows the audience how the people of Northern Ireland were oppressed and discriminated against. It also details how corrupt and deceptive the police were at the time, going to great lengths to hide evidence and torture them into signing a confession just because they were under enormous public pressure to apprehend the bombers.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K8B1LeYLBfIxLTd_qZPHg_e0DL5T2TxOVemLWGHqiiv4lI-O1CMYm01Ix1SjQse5jubv8WqM_rXUsiM-qkLxI4H1SUrnYi5IWgka2ncHmmsurwP82vbduOZJ3ZqlG0Bk_7L9SSxoRIc/s1600/maxresdefault.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2K8B1LeYLBfIxLTd_qZPHg_e0DL5T2TxOVemLWGHqiiv4lI-O1CMYm01Ix1SjQse5jubv8WqM_rXUsiM-qkLxI4H1SUrnYi5IWgka2ncHmmsurwP82vbduOZJ3ZqlG0Bk_7L9SSxoRIc/s400/maxresdefault.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
To conclude, In the Name of the Father is a heartfelt portrayal of real life people in their quest for love, peace, and freedom. A classic worthy of watching a thousand times over, emotional, witty, and thought-provoking; and it has a brilliant soundtrack (Yah man!). It ticks all the right boxes and the cast and crew did an outstanding job in bringing this biography to life. In a world where people just want a movie "fix", In the Name of the Father is worthy of calling a shining beacon of hope to re-ignite the younger generation's interest in real, undiluted cinema. I've thoroughly enjoyed this movie from beginning to end and I doubt that anyone will have anything bad to say about it because it's just that good. I would advise you to turn on the subtitles because of the thick Northern Irish accents, it can be a bit hard to understand what they're saying at times, but other than that, go and enjoy it.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM) was never meant to be a horror movie. Director Tobe Hooper was actually aiming for it to be a dark comedy movie with very little elements of horror, as I stated in my <a href="http://thestormbreaker.blogspot.com/2017/03/the-texas-chainsaw-massacre-1974.html" target="_blank">review</a> of the original. Keen eyes will spot humor in the original, albeit very dark, but still humor. Now, I've been known to give TCM's sequels a lot of slack, but I always maintained the fact that part 2 is very watchable. Released in 1986 under the direction of original director Tobe Hooper and starring Dennis Hopper (I know), as well Jim Siedow, who's the only returning character from the original; he reprised his role as Drayton Sawyer. Siedow excelled in this movie.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Reviewing this movie is an absolute nightmare, because its status changes depending on the perspective I approach it with. If I look at it as a sequel to the original, it's absolutely horrible, a true shitshow. But, if I look at it as a standalone movie, it's actually pretty fun to watch, but not worthy of the TCM title. So we're at a crossroad here, how would I approach it? Both ways, this is gonna be a first for this blog, I'll approach it first as a sequel, then as standalone film. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>AS A SEQUEL TO THE ORIGINAL:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If I could do a seven word review of this film, it'll look something like this: TOTAL PIECE OF SHIT DON'T WATCH IT. But I don't roll like that, we're not fucking animals, we live in a society. It's sad to think that Tobe Hooper's vision of the original looked something like what we got in this film, thank god for budget cuts. The silent, gritty, morbid feeling of the original is completely destroyed and replaced with dancing corpses, an actual soundtrack, and a total butchery of Leatherface's character. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What were they thinking? TCM is not supposed to be bright lights and music, it's not supposed to be Leatherface doing that stupid dance of his and dry humping a disk jockey. Whatever happened to the seriousness of the previous film? They could've done so much with a budget of $5 million, but for some reason Hooper wanted to build up on his original concept of a dark comedy. Haven't you heard of happy accidents? Not the ones that come after 9 months, but like vulcanized rubber? Seriously, this guy had a powerhouse in his hands. It would've been nice to have seen a direct sequel to the movie, as the ending of the original was kinda vague. That would've been cool, only that came to us 39 years later in the form of Texas Chainsaw 3D. Serendipity dude, serendipity. </div>

The fact of the matter is, Hooper wanted to expanded on subtleties found in the first movie. Leatherface, who's mentally impaired in the first movie, went full retard in this one, and everyone knows you can never go full retard. The dark humor and uncomfortable setting were still present in part 2, but they were super evident and felt kinda forced down the viewers throat. Like "HEY YOU MISSED THIS IN THE FIRST FILM? WELL LET ME MAKE IT SUPER OBVIOUS FOR YOU BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I WAS AIMING FOR!". Subtlety was not so high on Hooper's list in this movie, it seemed like he was trying to change the idea that the viewers had of the original. A child can watch this movie, really, a child.<br />
<br />
Finally, what was Dennis Hopper thinking? YOU WERE IN EASY RIDER, MAN, COME ON!!! </div>

<b>AS A STAND ALONE MOVIE: </b></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really appreciate dark comedy. It's bold, ballsy, and doesn't give a crap about anyone or anything. TCM 2 does not lack that, it is one of the best comedies I've ever seen. Once you get over the fact that it's categorized as a horror flick, and start accepting it for its comedic value, you'll be in for a treat. I used to loathe it, I was ashamed of owning it, but that all changed. It is hard to to have multiple mindsets when watching a movie, and usually first impression is the best impression, but of course that's not always the case. For a long time I've hated many movies (and bands), but in time I started appreciating them, a good example being Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This film is somewhat a parody film, like scary movie. It was released in 1986, and it obviously parodies the excess that was associated with the 80's. The original poster of the film hilariously mocks The Breakfast Club's poster. The whole movie was the definition of excess, with over the top characters, stunts, music, and gore. I really enjoyed that because who doesn't love a good parody film.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The man who stole the show, without a doubt, was Bill Moseley as Leatherface's brother, Chop Top. That guy is one of my all time favorite characters in any movie, he did a great job carrying the film. A severely wounded Vietnam War veteran turned major hippie. We first see Chop Top at the radio station talking to Stretch, putting in a request for a song and talking about how he is a "far out fan". Moseley perfected the role, Chop Top (in this film) was more of an icon in that film than Leatherface. A maniac who gleefully murders his victims and listens to Iron Butterfly, far out man!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The final battle scene between Lefty and Leatherface was nothing short of epic. Two guys battling it out with chainsaws and grenades, how can anyone hate that? TCM 2 is a pure gore-fest, and although I've been known to have my reservations on gorey movies, it's good to appreciate a good gore-fest from time to time. I only hate gore-fests when they're used in a context to scare people, because it's really not creative and quite boring, but that wasn't the case with this movie.<br />
<br />
To conclude, from whatever perspective you chose to watch this movie with, you will find a way to appreciate it. TCM 2 is a really good movie in it's own right, just don't put it side by side with the original. It is a classic midnight popcorn flick that's worth watching and won't really ruin your night, so long as you ignore Leatherface's stupid dance. But beware, I was a lenient on this film because it started to grow on me, the movies that came after it though, total fucking horseshit. I will not even attempt to review the atrocities that came after it, because they're exactly what I said they were, atrocities.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let's talk horror shall we, or rather, let's discuss the declining history of horror movies in general. Back in the 1910's and 20's, the first horror flicks came from Germany. German expressionist films they were called and produced classics like F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu and Robert Wiene's The Cabinet of Dr. Calagari. Not to mention The Phantom of the Opera, the silent classic. Then came the 30's and 40's, dominated by the Universal Studios monster films such as Dracula and Frankenstein. The 50's saw Christopher Lee command the screens in with his portrayal of Dracula in the Hammer Horror Films. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho was synonymous with the 60's horror scene and it's often considered to be one of the first movies in the slasher genre. Let's not forget to mention Romero's Night of The Living Dead, the grandaddy of modern zombie movies.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The 70's was the best time for horror movies, the world saw a slew of fresh and frightening releases like The Exorcist, The Omen, Audrey Rose, and The Sentinel. Movies that dealt with the supernatural were a big hit in the 70's, which also seems to be the trend nowadays. The 80's of course produced some of the greatest slasher flicks out there like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare On Elm Street. This renewed interest in the slasher genre seeped into the 90's with sequels to the aforementioned movies. But they were nowhere near as good as the originals, the 90's and 2000's were dark days for horror genre. With the exception of Silence of the Lambs and The Blair Witch Project, every horror movie made in the last 20 years was pure butchery of the genre.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Horror movies have been reduced to nothing but gore fests, jump scares, and paranormal entities. The charm that classics like The Shining and Rosemary's Baby faded away. Horror movies aren't as well thought out as they used to be, and the biggest evidence of this is the amount of remakes and reboots being released. Horror movies are like Heavy Metal, not given nearly as much respect as they deserve, thrived in the 70's and 80's, but became a parody of what they used to be in recent days.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
More often than not, whenever I mention The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (TCM) to anyone, they always say they've watched the 2003 version, no one ever mentions the 1974 one, That's very sad, because to me, that movie is the quintessential horror flick, the movie that revitalized the slasher genre and never looked back. Released in 1974 and directed by Tobe Hooper, TCM is about a group of young adults travelling through Texas, when their van runs out of gas, they venture into the desert, not knowing what awaits them inside the lonesome house in the distance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's quite ironic that despite the name, the movie isn't a gore fest whatsoever, in fact there isn't much blood at all. Come to think of it, there isn't any music either, nothing to extenuate the fright factor in the movie. Nor was it as complex as other horror films at the time, quite hilariously, director Tobe Hooper was hoping to get a PG-13 rating because he approached it as a black comedy rather than a horror flick. But what really made TCM stand out were its shortcomings. The budget, the grainy camera work, and the difficulty during production all contributed to the charm this movie possessed. I mean how can you argue with a movie that starts off like this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihfD2xdFVP8_liwkUgu_dGGZ3-eQFUSkn1Bb6ts7HyVG8wXgC75H4O8XtnriE0VwlxFS2-uEpaaHbDgZK3KTUQpLVCXE_HjYmYv6zVXtQpzMTUvreOW4JcWEijsLC5soFOe5-qmp4iaao/s1600/tcm_r2_1-500x291.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihfD2xdFVP8_liwkUgu_dGGZ3-eQFUSkn1Bb6ts7HyVG8wXgC75H4O8XtnriE0VwlxFS2-uEpaaHbDgZK3KTUQpLVCXE_HjYmYv6zVXtQpzMTUvreOW4JcWEijsLC5soFOe5-qmp4iaao/s400/tcm_r2_1-500x291.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What makes TCM so special is the fact that it deals with the evil that dwells within the human mind, like Psycho, it is based on the story of the real life serial killer Ed Gein. It's frightening to know that the events in the movie could happen in real life, and they have happened. This is real, real life, not some Paranormal Activity moving chairs bullshit, people like this exist. Shot primarily in Texas, location played a huge role adding depth to the movie. Think about it, this arid landscape in the middle of Texas, with no one to help you and, dare I say, no one to hear you scream. The landscape adds a dryness to the whole experience, sort of like an itchy throat. The location had me feeling uneasy and uncomfortable, not in a "oh this is disturbing" way, but rather like being in a sauna and wearing heavy winter gear. Location, location, location people.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The whole dryness of the movie is made more obvious by the raw and gritty camera work and use of very bright lights. The farmhouse in which the Sawyer family lived in was "decorated" with real animal bones and REAL blood. The chainsaw that Leatherface uses is real, and no special effects were applied when he moved it terrifyingly close to the face of one of the actors, it was all real. In the scene where Sally was "feeding" grandpa, they had to cut the actresses' index finger with a razor blade to get the blood flowing. The modest budget of the movie forced the production team to go to these extremes, and when production ended, most of the actors were physically injured.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Without an ounce of doubt, the star of TCM was, and always will be, Leatherface. The big baby, the retarded butcher, the pseudo cross-dresser. Leatherface, the man with a thousand faces (literally), is not only physically terrifying, but also an ambassador of sadism. He peels the skin off of his victims and uses it to make masks to cover his face with, if he only pursued a career in plastic surgery. His primary objective is to kill stranded victims who stumble into his house and slaughter them in order to feed his cannibalistic family. Leatherface is a true icon of horror, although he has appeared in all the sequels and remakes, none of the portrayals are anywhere near as good as Gunnar Hansen's "original" Leatherface. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlMTpRgDgy7WvlSRkkQDVXiB-6lDQ_TM5dzBJxUhbz0ajygS85Giub-N992MVuRqh_1qB5XmQFMbJ3q1bUHARE1IvBmU_ce0j0EXCaatf3L91ltr3F-P1MXsKOHDMzDlTcIKBcOM3Se-E/s1600/3016628-poster-p-1-leatherface-speaks-chainsaw-massacre-star-revisits-sweltering-house-of-horror_0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlMTpRgDgy7WvlSRkkQDVXiB-6lDQ_TM5dzBJxUhbz0ajygS85Giub-N992MVuRqh_1qB5XmQFMbJ3q1bUHARE1IvBmU_ce0j0EXCaatf3L91ltr3F-P1MXsKOHDMzDlTcIKBcOM3Se-E/s320/3016628-poster-p-1-leatherface-speaks-chainsaw-massacre-star-revisits-sweltering-house-of-horror_0.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre exploded into a huge franchise, with comics, action figures, remakes, and sequels. None of the later films were even close to possessing the charm of the original. In Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Leatherface has an entirely new family who's involved with aliens and the Illuminati, and they eat pizza instead of humans, WHAT THE FUCK. The original was raw, macabre, and bizarre, but the movies that followed were and absolute joke. It is a well known fact that horror movie sequels are almost never as good as the originals, but I have never seen a franchise so scarred by its sequels as much as TCM. The original is a masterpiece and a groundbreaking addition to the genre, it is my all time favorite horror movie, and for good reason. It took the low budget feel of B-Movies at the time and added some dark (very dark) humor, gritty realism, fucked up characters, and combined it all into one movie; a pure powerhouse combo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxKFo0F8vbf392vmnlVSzbHavq7p8ShrDdSUl69Cpsoif1t3zeNkaGwn4oC3pERfLW1WGyexiCnb5TqHa1A8oQEn8CQxFbcIHhXALPcsT8cfvQtR9Ff4jDzaQpDjtn2zTfjhGgTaweGC8/s1600/Drayton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxKFo0F8vbf392vmnlVSzbHavq7p8ShrDdSUl69Cpsoif1t3zeNkaGwn4oC3pERfLW1WGyexiCnb5TqHa1A8oQEn8CQxFbcIHhXALPcsT8cfvQtR9Ff4jDzaQpDjtn2zTfjhGgTaweGC8/s320/Drayton.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To finish off, TCM is just fantastic, whether you're a horror movie fan or have a real fucked up sense of humor, this one's for you. To enhance your experience, try watching it in the hours of 1PM to 4PM, yeah it's not really a midnight movie in my opinion. Dark room in the afternoon is optimal. As for its sequels, the only "worthy" one would be TCM 2, although it was horrible by every meaning of the word, it did introduce us to one of the best characters ever shown in a movie, We will take an in depth look at TCM 2 soon enough, stick around for that.</div>

I have seen them all, the best and the worst. From Citizen Kane to Interstellar and from that god awful movie The Notebook to Batman and Robin, I've seen movies in their most alluring and most hideous forms. There's no denying how much of a role movies play in our everyday lives, like music, they appeal to our emotions and continue to dazzle us with visual (auditory in music's case) and artistic creativity. There's a certain rank of movies, a certain echelon, that will instill themselves into your mind forever. Sometimes, one movie can change the way you look at motion pictures as a whole, in my case, that movie was Schindler's List.</div>

I had already watched Apocalypse Now (again) the night before, so the standard had already been set. Would you really wanna follow up Apocalypse Now with 500 Days of Summer? I don't think so. So I looked into the third row of my shelf, there, to the far right (ironic?) I saw it, Schindler's List. I picked it up and looked at the run time, 197 minutes! But I said "What the hell, I'll watch half now and half later", boy was I wrong.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Liam Neeson (Oskar Schindler), Ralph Fiennes (Amon Goth), and Ben Kingsley (Itzhak Stern), the story is set in World War II Nazi Poland, it tells us about a time in the life of Oskar Schindler, a Nazi spy turned Businessman. He builds an enamelware factory in the recently invaded city of Krakow in Poland, hiring mainly Polish Jews in his factory, because they cost less, which meant more profit for him. However, it becomes increasingly difficult for Schindler to keep his workers due to the fact that the Nazis were getting murdering more and more Jews in their concentration camps.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Schindler's List was shot in black and white, along with Spielberg's documentary-esque style of shooting, it really gave an accurate and grim feeling of WWII Nazi controlled Poland. It gives you a real sense of how life was like back then, morbid and terrifying, no color whatsoever. The girl in the red coat was the only color that the viewer and Schindler could see, which, although minor, was a very significant element in the movie. At first she is seen by Schindler running during the liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto by the Nazis, she's then seen dead by Schindler again during the mass burning of the victims of the concentration camps (later in the movie). Let's explore that shall we? Everyone's interpretation of the color red is different, but here's mine. Red is the color of extremes, when Schindler first sees the girl, it shows that he's in awe, yet he doesn't comment and is unfazed by it. It is only when he sees her for the second time, dead in a wheelbarrow, he realizes that he should rethink his motives and his ideology.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO48VlyF-EP1Rv9MUVlEih30R5rH33JzK_gvYwAhCrJJ6UkSa8lfzCXGhmpGsXIZqfIchrsdSgm-XuKgUV1Zinmm5u2w7IgpBGT5c4p3rWdff9QIFfLblah-ik3Z1eqONhTZnhQ2ehUEI/s1600/schindlers-list-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO48VlyF-EP1Rv9MUVlEih30R5rH33JzK_gvYwAhCrJJ6UkSa8lfzCXGhmpGsXIZqfIchrsdSgm-XuKgUV1Zinmm5u2w7IgpBGT5c4p3rWdff9QIFfLblah-ik3Z1eqONhTZnhQ2ehUEI/s320/schindlers-list-3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Liam Neeson was nothing short of brilliant in his portrayal of Oskar Schindler. It might've been one of the best portrayals I've ever seen in a movie. We see Schindler grow from a party loving womanizer to a sympathetic soul in such great detail it blew me to next week. A charismatic man who influenced and charmed everyone around him, including the most ruthless of Nazi officers. At first, I saw a leech, motivated by profit. Little did I know that he would gradually develop into an exceptional individual who would go out of his way to save those less fortunate than him, a humanitarian by every meaning of the word.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ralph Fiennes' portrayal of Untersturmfuhrer Amon Goth was also quite exceptional. Fiennes did a really good job in helping the viewer explore the character of Goth, the ruthless Nazi officer in charge of the Plaszow concentration camp. A sadistic killer with no regard for human life. Goth, in my opinion, provided some form of comedic relief for me, I don't know whether it was because of the accent or the fact that he wanted to grow old with his domestic helper. For me, Goth personified the savage nature of human beings, he broke every boundary without any remorse. Goth was Nazi Germany.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeVCFHhcUB8OxRVh1OLr8NsfhI3MGdaNQFzELF9e1vQJTjiKMEIgvvxiVaCt4V5UIalOgNANXIRZRcoynQsijUCM2hmmaLsaLWdtHzcOh3Er6YcKquCJhigaEqQeX4mQgmRdLnJxOZuZk/s1600/c6bc4634845935150cca1f9b189ca9e5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeVCFHhcUB8OxRVh1OLr8NsfhI3MGdaNQFzELF9e1vQJTjiKMEIgvvxiVaCt4V5UIalOgNANXIRZRcoynQsijUCM2hmmaLsaLWdtHzcOh3Er6YcKquCJhigaEqQeX4mQgmRdLnJxOZuZk/s320/c6bc4634845935150cca1f9b189ca9e5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Itzhak Stern was another admirable character, although at first he seems quite unpleased about working with Schindler, he becomes more and more determined to employ Jews into the factory. As the film progresses, Schindler starts to really care for Stern, and although Stern was cold at first, they eventually become friends. The on screen chemistry between Neeson and Kingsley was fantastic. The complex character development was a distinguishing factor, so many characters were well developed, and none of them felt insignificant. I greatly appreciated that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The film was shot on location is Krakow, Poland and sets were built to depict the Plaszow and Auschwitz concentration camps. Again, Spielberg's documentary style filming contributed enormously to bringing the sets to life. The 15 minute sequence of the liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto has to be one of the most terrifying and brutal action sequences ever seen on film. It felt real, almost like I was there, witnessing the whole event, it's like someone dug up some found footage and put it in the movie. The music was composed by John Williams and the main theme features violinist Itzhak Perlman, who did a great job in capturing the film's depressing undertone. One piece of music which I particularly appreciated in the film was Gloomy Sunday a.k.a The Hungarian Suicide Song, which is as murky as crows resting on a telephone pole, it really added depth to the atmosphere of the whole film.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Schindler's List is a film that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Once you start watching you cannot stop, it sucks you in and doesn't let go until the credits start rolling. I genuinely have nothing negative to say about it, it's as close to perfection as it gets. A modern masterpiece that reminded me why I loved movies in the first place. Culturally and historically significant, it not only taps into the horrors and atrocities of WWII, it shows us that determination, strength, and honor are all but lost. I wept at the end, it was that emotional for me. It was the most complete, most well directed and acted movie I've seen in a long time. I'm not even gonna complain about the run time (197 mins) because I was so absorbed into the movie that I forgot about time itself, it's that fucking good. Definitely one of the movies you have to watch right now, drop everything and watch it, I promise you nothing but severe emotions and warmth on the inside.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm baaaack! Yeah I know it's been a while, what can I say? College life is merciless. Anyways, I've been holding off this review for a while now, and although I haven't (re)watched Metropolis in over a year now ( I make it a point to watch it a several times a year), I can remember every detail of it. Because apparently, learning about Turbines and Aerofoils didn't override memory of this masterpiece.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, let's get a few things out of the way. First, I've been absent from the movie reviewing scene for a while mainly because of college, so sorry for not being as active as I used to be ( I was on my gap year back then, of course I'd be active). Second, I know that I've reviewed Metropolis already, about two years ago (damn.), all you old school fans know this. So why am I reviewing it again? Because the version I reviewed was the Giorgio Moroder version, which had a few nice colors added in as well as a modern soundtrack. At that time, I haven't seen the "complete" version of Metropolis along with the original soundtrack. I believe it is time to review the "real" thing. Lastly, do look forward to more movie reviews, I've got a pretty long break from college and I believe that now's the time to do what I do best. Just felt like I owed you fans that explanation.</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Anyway</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ah Metropolis, what can I say? It has a soft spot in my heart (not many movies earn that privilege), a masterpiece that sparked a cinematic revolution. Every Sci-Fi movie ever made is indebted to Metropolis. Had it not been for Fritz Lang, Sci- Fi wouldn't be the way it is today, or maybe, just maybe; not have existed at all (total exaggeration, because<a href="http://thestormbreaker.blogspot.com/2014/12/interstellar-2014.html"> Murphy's Law</a>). Set in the futuristic dystopian city of Metropolis, it tells the story of Freder (Gustav Frohlich), the son of the city's ruler, in his attempt to uncover the secrets of the city after seeing Maria (Brigitte Helm) giving a tour to a bunch of children showing them the lifestyle of the rich and wealthy who live above. Freder of course oblivious to the fact that the city is kept "alive" by workers who dwell in the bowels.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Talk about an "orderly fashion"</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For me, the story is pretty basic, strip it off of it's futuristic look and effects, and you got yourself a pretty standard romantic movie (which as you may or may not know, I loathe). BUT, Metropolis' selling point is definitely not it's story. First and foremost, let's talk acting. One of the main reasons why I really take interest in silent movies is because the cast have a very tough job conveying emotions using expressions and body language. It is well known that if you wanna judge the performance of an actor/actress, try checking if they've done any silent movies. And the cast here weren't short of spectacular. Brigitte Helm gave an exceptional performance doubling as Maria and the Maschinenmensch (I totally did not copy and paste that), in fact her performance was so good, I had a hard time convincing myself that that wasn't done by two different actresses.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Breaking the fourth wall with that wink? </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<h1 class="firstHeading" id="firstHeading" lang="en" style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: none; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(170, 170, 170); font-family: "Linux Libertine", Georgia, Times, serif; font-size: 1.8em; font-weight: normal; line-height: 1.3; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; overflow: visible; padding: 0px;">
</h1>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another factor that sets Metropolis apart is its set design. Bearing in mind that this movie was released in 1927, the set design is just phenomenal, attention to detail was overwhelming, and the sets really gave the movie a futuristic edge. From the Son's club to the Tower of Babel to Yoshiwara, right down to the worker's city, it is all bloody fantastic. The special effects were fucking brilliant, for a movie made in 1927, I must say that the special effects can compete with any modern movie out there. Everything was so convincing, and the fact that they accomplished this in 1927! Just watch out for the scene when the Maschinenmensch transforms into evil Maria (One of my personal favorite scenes).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let's take a second to talk about the Maschinenmensch, which by the way is the first robot ever shown on the big screen (where do you think C-3PO takes it's inspiration from?). With it's tantalizing splendor and beautifully scary expressionless face, the robot was definitely the star player in Metropolis, but it came to be with a bit of hardship. Apparently, the robot isn't made of metal, but rather of plastic wood, a new material at the time. it was molded to fit Brigitte Helm's body, but the mold was taken whilst she was standing up (very...clever), so it was very difficult for her to shoot whilst sitting down; this resulted in Helm getting cuts and bruises from wearing the robot suit. Moreover, the scene where Rotwang the Inventor introduces the robot to Joh Fredersen took 9 DAYS to shoot! But, was it worth it? Fuck yes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRNyU0TEHespAxwmQpRVPNwtM4ngXmr4yrmJD-148erxbeZc6VW1Elc6bUTeVkHeyOkksXnbq-GpIrd62-HVwK8kcw3BQuhy101zO224EvV5KVsfNWQqGzled7MNCF4t5fzq6qwv6m89E/s1600/2a94b613c248af24b149878b7f4dd990.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRNyU0TEHespAxwmQpRVPNwtM4ngXmr4yrmJD-148erxbeZc6VW1Elc6bUTeVkHeyOkksXnbq-GpIrd62-HVwK8kcw3BQuhy101zO224EvV5KVsfNWQqGzled7MNCF4t5fzq6qwv6m89E/s400/2a94b613c248af24b149878b7f4dd990.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I believe Rotwang was a Satanist</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The score of the movie is played by an orchestra and they did a fantastic job highlighting the highs and the lows of the film, although a bit repetitive, the score was definitely the movie's backbone. A modern soundtrack was featured in the Moroder version of Metropolis, although I'm not a huge fan, it does put the film in a bit of a different perspective. What more can I say, a masterpiece in any way you look at it, Metropolis is the grandaddy of Sci-Fi, and fans all around world should be thankful to Fritz Lang for bringing us this magnum opus. Every time I watch it I notice something new, and I've watched it many times...many..times. But each time it inspires me and teaches me more about film making. For me, Metropolis is a "comfort movie", I can spend all day talking about it and its references, but I've yet to find someone to discuss it with, probably because everyone else lost interest. And that's a huge problem, moviegoers in Bahrain do not want to delve into the world of classic masterpieces, all they want is an action packed superhero movie (what has changed, eh?). But then again, I can't change the trend alone, so help me...please (ambitious as fuck).</div>

<br />
I've never once expected that Straight Outta Compton (let's call it SOC) would be the movie that I would go out of my way to watch. I mean to be honest, I wasn't really anticipating it, I didn't even know about it until I watched the trailer on YouTube. All of a sudden I find myself getting so excited about this flick, I couldn't wait for it to be released in Bahrain...oh wait. Of course Cineco will not release the movie, what was I thinking, they just stick to releasing shitty, generic, boring, piece of shit hour and a half movies. It's not a "explicit" movie you know, in fact it's not as explicit as I thought it would be, it's certainly not as explicit as The Wolf Of Wall Street, which Cineco gladly released (even though they cut a whole HOUR from the film). But nooo, SOC is apparently two scenes away from being a porno in their eyes (sarcasm), so they're not gonna release the cut version, they're not gonna release the movie at all...get your shit together Cineco.<br />
<br />
Alright, now that we've got that out of the way, let's shift our focus to the movie. What can I say, I'm blown away, I mean the movie was near flawless. The acting was spot on man, the chemistry that they had was so strong and so real, my monitor almost corroded (hahaha...anyone...anyone?). It was like they were born for these roles, they were just so convincing, you'd forget that they were actors. And that's the beauty of this movie, the dialogue is natural, it's free flowing, and the whole vibe of the film just seemed so real. But the man that shined, the man that took it one step above the others, the man that was like a reincarnation of his character.....JASON MITCHELL. Yep that's the guy who played Eazy-E, don't get me wrong, all the actors did a brilliant job, but this guy took it to another level. He was so into his character, just driven to make his performance as real as possible, and he hit it out of the park. Oh and O'Shea Jackson Jr. (that's Ice Cube's son) resembles his dad in his younger years so much, it would've been taboo to bring in another actor.<br />

The movie is a thrill ride man, like I was really enjoying it, and that does not happen to me with a lot of movies. I was immersed, that's the beauty of it, that's when you know that you got a good film in your hands. Oh and the concert scenes, damn those were really good, I was just singing along with every song (oh that rhymed). There's one thing that I really appreciate about this movie, that it sort of rekindled the fire in me. I wasn't always all heavy metal, I used to listen to rap believe it or not, yeah then came heavy metal and that changed everything. But I always had respect for rap music because in a way, it's similar to heavy metal, very similar in fact. All this excitement with the movie and stuff, I went back to listening to rap (of course I didn't abandon Heavy Metal...no way in hell), and it's just been really good. Old school rap, really angry, straightforward, social commentary. Like Ice Cube said "Our art is a reflection of our reality". And just like how it rekindled the fire in me, I hope the next the generation will start listening to old school rap, and abandon this mainstream bullshit that everyone else is listening to.<br />

There's so little movies nowadays that really send a message. SOC is a biopic no doubt, but it does have a relevancy to today's events. That's what I liked about it, it could've been just some biopic, but it didn't, It showed that life in some communities now is not so different from back then. It really captures the impact that N.W.A had back when they released their first album. It showcased their bravery for releasing that album, with the boldest track ever, in times when African Americans were (quite honestly) being hunted down. This was not a group motivated by money, or luxury or whatever, they just wanted to express things like they were, no sugarcoating. SOC brings a whole new perspective on N.W.A's music, which was thought to have been nothing but a bunch of tracks glorifying gang violence and what not. Also, a lot of people say that their "beef" wasn't highlighted in the movie, now I'm not gonna go around and explain the beef to you guys, look it up, its pretty interesting. But let me say this, the beef seemed personal, but at it's core it was all business, and the main reason N.W.A were planning a reunion was because they realized that. One thing though, I loved how they made Suge Knight look bad, because that man is horrible, I really believe that he was behind the murder of Eazy, Biggie, and Pac. Speaking of Pac, yeah he has a cameo and it's pretty cool as well. There are a lot of cameos in this film, I really liked Snoop's cameo, especially when he started singing the lyrics to "Nuthin But a G thang", thought that was pretty cool.<br />
<br />
*SPOILERS*So obviously at the end, Eazy dies (technically that's not a spoiler) and oh my god towards the end the movie got really emotional. It really highlighted the beauty of the bond that these guys had, they were brothers. It was really sad to see that just when things were getting better, Eazy finds out that he's dying.*SPOILERS END HERE* I won't lie, it brought a tear to my eye (another rhyme...hmm), perfect ending to a perfect movie, what more could you ask for?<br />

So overall, definitely worth watching, in a cinema if you could. I didn't have that privilege because....ugh don't even get me started, so I had to watched a cheap filmed version, meh it was okay I guess. Definitely my favorite movie so far this year, I say that cause we still got Star Wars, and definitely an Oscar contender. I would be really pissed off if it didn't win anything, because it deserves to win. So go ahead and watch it, you know my recommendations are good.<br />

<br />
With the amount of superhero movies being released these days, I'm noticing a certain dilution of the charm that the superhero genre has. And to be honest, superhero movies nowadays seem very repetitive. I've heard about Watchmen since the day it came out, but I never paid much attention to it because I wasn't really a movie nut back in those days and to be very honest, my taste in movies wasn't so refined. So when I came by it in Virgin Megastore Dubai, I finally realized that it's about time I checked it out. Plus the price was unbelievable, so that's a win-win right there. Once I got back from Dubai, I popped that sucker into the DVD and watched the hell out of it.<br />
<br />
You know something, it's always a pleasure when you watch a movie and then it suddenly becomes one of your all time favorites, that is actually a great feeling. I think it's the shock that got to me, you have to understand that I had no interest in this movie at all, but once I watched, holy shit; it was all that I was talking about. So the story is about the "Watchmen", a group of superheroes who come out of a retirement to uncover a plot that can not only kill them, but humanity as a whole. The movie is set in an alternate 1985 at the height of the Cold War.<br />
<br />
I think a very strong point that Watchmen has is the fact that a lot of people like it because it is not your conventional superhero film. I honestly haven't heard anyone say anything bad about it, because truth be told, people are bored of the same old "I will start strong, then have a weakness in the middle, yet i'll still finish off on a very high note" typical superhero bullshit, they wanna see something different. And that's exactly what Watchmen gives them, something different.<br />
<br />
I have honestly never seen such brilliant character development in a superhero flick like I've seen in Watchmen. You get to know each superhero, they don't miss out on the details, and believe me it's not an easy job to develop a one character in a movie, let alone six! Let's talk about the characters now, I think that we can all agree that Jackie Earl Haley's performance as Rorschach was captivating as hell. So captivating in fact that he's now my second favorite superhero (behind Batman), I mean he stole the show, he was just born to play Rorschach. Although Rorschach was a fucking star, In my opinion, the character that I really appreciated was The Comedian. *SPOILER ALERT* Although he dies in the beginning, The Comedian made as much of an impact (if not more) to the movie as the others did.*SPOILERS END HERE* To me, The Comedian was very symbolic in a sense that he was a character that represented mankind's primal and savage nature. He was, in all honesty, one of the most sincere characters I've ever seen in any movie. He doesn't sugarcoat it, he gives it you straight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfzMWU-jV8ZoBchnSrassfsvOzPKeJE1qupWraZ-RG9P9xaj1NBRSRbP-LlTG0QYH0yfkf4mS8scltsht5DNy6z7a5lYvBlklH8e08FLKbVkhSveNJpTKqavPg_hVXn3RmKvp4O0pr9-w/s1600/jeffrey_dean_morgan_the_comedian_watchmen_wallpaper-6799.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfzMWU-jV8ZoBchnSrassfsvOzPKeJE1qupWraZ-RG9P9xaj1NBRSRbP-LlTG0QYH0yfkf4mS8scltsht5DNy6z7a5lYvBlklH8e08FLKbVkhSveNJpTKqavPg_hVXn3RmKvp4O0pr9-w/s400/jeffrey_dean_morgan_the_comedian_watchmen_wallpaper-6799.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The soundtrack of the movie was just too good, I mean you know you're in for a treat when the opening credits play "The Times They Are A' Changin'" by Bob Dylan. Let me get one thing straight, Watchmen is not a kid's movie, got that? Nope, it's not Iron man, not Thor, not the Incredible fucking Hulk; you do not wanna show this movie to children. Because the movie is very gory (no problem with me), which is also something you don't see in many hero flicks. Also, the ending of the movie made me weep, I don't wanna spoil it for you but you gotta watch it to understand why it did that, especially towards the last 20 minutes or so. And I mean any movie that fucks with your emotions tends to be a very good movie (unless you go full on rage on that shit, then that's a different case). I think the only complaint that I have is the fact that the lighting isn't very good, I found the movie to be quite dark at times, and sometimes I couldn't even see anything. and I'm a perfect 20/20!<br />
<br />
In conclusion, Watchmen is a blast from start to finish. I highly recommend it if you're a superhero movie fan or if you just appreciate good movies. It's really unique and I haven't seen anything like it. All in all, it's just a real treat and I would pop that sucker into the DVD any day.<br />

<br />
Being the moviegoer that I am, I was quite disappointed that I didn't catch Interstellar when it first came out. But alas, I caught it today, just before our oh so perfect cinema company (Cineco) removed it from its theaters. And let me tell you, I was mentally prepared to wait three months until it's released on Blu-Ray so I could get the chance to watch it, but today's plan was delightfully spontaneous. The story is about a team of astronauts who discover a wormhole in space (obviously) that connects them to potentially inhabitable planets in another galaxy, they have to make the journey because planet earth is basically dead. It sounds cliche, but trust me it's not, the movie is incredible.<br />
<br />
I just wanna say that one thing before I get into the review. Watching the movie in theater was amazing, but I swear to god I had half a mind to go and choke the shit out of four 13 year olds that were sitting in the row in front of me. If any of you dumbasses are reading this, know that you were a nuisance to everyone in the cinema, and not every movie that has a picture of an astronaut is necessarily gonna be some Call of Duty type of bullshit that you guys worship. And the fact that you left the theater halfway through the movie was a sigh of relief. So please, you're kids, go watch a cartoon or something.<br />
<br />
Aaaaaanyways, back to the movie. I've noticed that in space themed movies are actually booming these days, like Gravity and Interstellar. I mean if the quality of these movies are an indication of things to come, sign me up, cause its already looking very promising. There is no doubt that Mathew McConaughey was a goddamn star in this film, I mean he's always been one of my favorites, he caught my attention in A Time to Kill, won my heart in Dallas Buyers Club, and engraved his name on my top actors list with his performance in Interstellar. In fact, all the actors were brilliant, it's actually fascinating to see so much talent in one movie...like even Anne Hathaway was good. It's like they gave their best performances in Interstellar and my god it was brilliant.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bravo man, Bravo.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
A visual masterpiece with a spine tingling soundtrack to go along with it. The soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer, was in my opinion, the backbone of the movie. I'm never one to pay attention to the soundtrack of films, but this was just perfection, it extenuated the highs and the lows and complemented the visuals beautifully. Now about the visuals, they were bloody beautiful man, my expectations were high, and let me tell you they ended up soaring in the heavens. Wow, all I kept saying to myself was WOW.<br />
<br />
The film's plot is very smart. I mean different planets, yeah we have seen that before, but to go in depth with black holes and relativity? Now I personally have not seen that. And because I spend a lot of time watching shows about space and reading about it (Yes, I am a nerd), It was pleasant to understand all that scientific jargon that was being thrown around about black holes and trajectories and Einstein's theory of Relativity and what not. The plot has a lot of twists, expected and unexpected, I mean you'd expect that in a movie like this.<br />
<br />
Moreover, the film is an emotional roller coaster man, and I'm not talking about no kiddie coaster, I'm talking heart attack inducing shit right here (just a tad exaggerated). I mean you get so attached to the characters because the character development in the film is just out of this world, you start to develop a bond with them, I know it seems bizarre but I speak the truth. I remember this one scene where Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) was crying cause he was watching video messages of his children and oh my god man I swear I was cracking up, goddamn!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRmEyduqDRbHUpMjcSbAp1TNwjq-9s9O4HP6Z3BO3ATFQXvA3_LM2vLzF_T68g4ARfXx87HA2Ak2IgPBZsIN_AqByGYD2rJbry-X-H9rdJLKclO5WAk7A-imOj30I-RNJ3pww77KwZcLc/s1600/blackhole2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRmEyduqDRbHUpMjcSbAp1TNwjq-9s9O4HP6Z3BO3ATFQXvA3_LM2vLzF_T68g4ARfXx87HA2Ak2IgPBZsIN_AqByGYD2rJbry-X-H9rdJLKclO5WAk7A-imOj30I-RNJ3pww77KwZcLc/s1600/blackhole2.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">GARGANTULA! </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Now the ending, I honestly didn't have trouble understanding what happened at the end, and to be honest most people won't have a problem IF they focus from the beginning, cause in the end everything will start to make sense. And the run time, now I'm a veteran when it comes to long run times (I watched the extended Lord of The Rings Trilogy in one sitting), and I was so immersed in the film that I didn't even feel like 2 hours and 50 minutes passed, that's how engaging it is.<br />
<br />
All in all, Interstellar is a blast from start to finish. Christopher Nolan just proves time and time again that he's one of the top directors out there. A beautiful plot, with the most jaw dropping visuals and soundtrack, very decent character developments, and an ending that will get you thinking. Is it worth watching, fuck yes. You have to watch it, in fact if I could recommend any movie from the last five years it would be Interstellar, no joke.<br />
<br />
<br />
Side note: I love how the movie showcased the four elements of nature: Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. You will know what I'm talking about when you watch it.<br />

<br />
So I never really got the chance to watch Lucy in the theaters, because of a combination of not having a ride and a lack of cash (story of my life). But I remember being excited for its release, the trailer looked good and the previews were fair. And it basically follows the same idea as Limitless, which in all honesty, was a blast and I loved it. So I got the opportunity to watch Lucy last night, and let's just say, my day could have gone waaaaaay better if I chose to watch Tropic Thunder for the millionth time as opposed to this shit-fest.<br />
<br />
So, the story is about Lucy (obviously), who's tricked by her boyfriend into becoming a drug mule for a Korean mob boss (Triads?). So they plant the drugs into her abdomen and send her off, but the drugs eventually leak into her body, giving her the ability to utilize more than 10% of her brain and thus the ability to become superhuman.<br />
<br />
Let me start by crushing your hopes children, this myth that a human being only uses 10% of their brain is total utter bullshit. It's science man, you can't argue with SCIENCE (Breaking Bad reference). Now that we got that out of the way, let's move on. I have never realised how much of a bad actress Scarlett Johansson is until I watched Lucy, like I don't see talent there. I mean she's a sex symbol, that's it, not a sex symbol that can act like Angelina Jolie. She fails as an actress just like Hitler failed when he tried to invade the Soviet Union.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV7RNMoMstzrGsgaiOedEIG6srAvGABZWHYarhPlz9j2f4367n5fDE_zAIeMLieKHTMXYrQ2pt0KfB6mowxX0XbZEJMH-e8aOAYEvY5mlys-FQ5x2RE_W2GTRS2lAhWaJ_GAQgQ0tCeJE/s1600/Scarlett-Johansson.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV7RNMoMstzrGsgaiOedEIG6srAvGABZWHYarhPlz9j2f4367n5fDE_zAIeMLieKHTMXYrQ2pt0KfB6mowxX0XbZEJMH-e8aOAYEvY5mlys-FQ5x2RE_W2GTRS2lAhWaJ_GAQgQ0tCeJE/s1600/Scarlett-Johansson.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">She's really pretty but she just can't act</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Another thing that pissed me off was the direction this movie was going in. *SPOILER ALERT* It went too over-the-top, I mean what's it supposed to convey to us (let's assume that this myth is a fact)? That if we reach 100% of our cerebral capacity, we just turn into this giant Daedric looking supercomputer and release a flash drive then disappear*SPOILERS END HERE*. Going back to Limitless, I mean that movie too was over the top, but it had appeal. It engaged the audience and it had a twisty-ish plot. Limitless was a "realistic" version of movies that are based on the "10% of the brain myth", whereas Lucy was just fuckin' weird. Lucy is a prime example in which the direction of the movie was literally just forward, and not in a good way. No subplots, no emotion, and just to top it off, an abrupt ending that would literally make you want to throw your TV from a fuckin' airplane.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheqoaEmpb2tOBYFnjadA6n210KnsmsNxtK9RdQvrtOjiX0weZn-BM7fOsG3yT3Wbu6ckQMu3wvHyq2XBEGYPMGgaKRpE2O9teS2_Zc7-2aEe3owmdAzs-mC8AodHfiLYWaHGKerdrFoOI/s1600/ce44f2fe8272a37e8569910197084b2d7ceefb4d767547a47171eae0a5c89900.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheqoaEmpb2tOBYFnjadA6n210KnsmsNxtK9RdQvrtOjiX0weZn-BM7fOsG3yT3Wbu6ckQMu3wvHyq2XBEGYPMGgaKRpE2O9teS2_Zc7-2aEe3owmdAzs-mC8AodHfiLYWaHGKerdrFoOI/s1600/ce44f2fe8272a37e8569910197084b2d7ceefb4d767547a47171eae0a5c89900.jpg" height="242" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyways, I'm losing brain cells just talking about this shit-fest. So let me cut to the chase, do not watch Lucy, because I swear to god you'll hate yourself for it. If you want a movie that explores the same idea as Lucy, watch Limitless, and trust me, you WILL thank me.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p_RuZ-7n8PQ/VGEmTaCejvI/AAAAAAAAAVo/I-Vveq_NT2A/s1600/Metallica_through_the_never_poster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p_RuZ-7n8PQ/VGEmTaCejvI/AAAAAAAAAVo/I-Vveq_NT2A/s1600/Metallica_through_the_never_poster.jpg" height="400" width="270" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As a HUGE Metallica fan (and a fan of heavy metal in general), can you imagine the disappointment I felt when I found out that Bahrain's oh so perfect (sarcasm level breaking the roof) theater company, Cineco, only released Through The Never for a WEEK!! Now that my friends, is what you call pure bullshit. So I couldn't watch it in the cinema and experience the whole thing. But lucky for them, I have a pretty awesome sound system and a pretty decent TV, so my experience wasn't the full one, but it was fair to say the least. So the movie is about a roadie called Trip (Dane Dehaan) who goes to fetch a bag that the band needs...let's just say his journey's smooth at first, but after a while, anarchy steps in; and all hell breaks loose in the streets. All this is happening whilst Metallica are playing a concert of epic proportions. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Let's just say that I was glued to the TV, for an hour and a half I didn't take my eyes off the TV, I don't even think I blinked man, cause in the end I was in tears (Or maybe that's cause they played <i>Orion</i>). And that brings me to the set-list, it was perfect, they played fan favorites from every album since Kill 'em All (except for Load and St.Anger, which are my least favorites so I couldn't give a fuck). And I say the set-list was perfect because the songs were appropriate to the plot of the movie. The minute they started playing <i>Creeping Death</i>, every song was getting progressively better in terms of the pyrotechnics and effects on the stage. Although my personal favorite was when the electric chair came down from the ceiling and they started shocking the shit out of it with 4 Tesla coils during <i>Ride The Lightning.</i><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P8BbDHpcrAw/VGEtQeQYdcI/AAAAAAAAAV4/pk1q_DfvQqA/s1600/metallica-ride-the-lightning.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P8BbDHpcrAw/VGEtQeQYdcI/AAAAAAAAAV4/pk1q_DfvQqA/s1600/metallica-ride-the-lightning.png" height="223" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yes, this is where I wanna be in life.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The level of anarchy in this movie is sky high, I mean Metal and Anarchy go together like Bonnie and Clyde man. I particularly liked the scene where Trip finds himself in no man's land between the police and the rioters, and that Sitar like intro of <i>Wherever I May Roam</i> starts playing, then just as both groups start to charge towards each other, <i>Cyanide</i> starts playing, that scene was perfection man. After a brief encounter with the Horseman (the main antagonist in the movie), Trip is left walking on a road with bodies hanging from a bridge...what happens next made me scream. Ahhh, as Trip walks we hear the familiar harmonious intro of <i>And Justice For All</i>, and I said to myself "Are they really gonna play it in its entirety?" Well yes they did, now you have to understand, before this movie came out, Metallica never played <i>And Justice For All</i> in its entirety, so having them play it in a movie was fuckin' insane, what a treat!<br />
<br />
So Trip finds the duffel bag that the band needs, the contents inside it are never revealed (although it is rumored that the bag contained Cliff Burton's soul), and <i>Master of Puppets</i> starts playing. Towards the end of the movie, Trip faces the Horseman in a rooftop battle that makes the city fall apart, literally. So this happens whilst Metallica plays<i> Enter Sandman</i>, but they stopped playing it towards the end cause the stage started falling apart. At this point I though the movie was gonna end, like that's it the Horseman is dead, and the stage is fucked, so this must be the end right? But wait, they didn't play any song from their debut album, Kill 'Em All. This can't be happening, how can they forget?!?! But oh no they didn't, after assessing the damage, they play it...they play the big one....the song in my opinion that is bigger than <i>Master of Puppets</i>, fuckin' HIT THE LIGHTS!!! Yes as you can probably tell it is my favorite Metallica song.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRs4Plxfvs6EmOGstGhRYWjtXMJRa3o1CTgmtWsGoIKlxCWYu7YOqHHdvSysqAwC4SneIkZ2_cTsL3suELQOs8Kb1blmHklh_zkP3_6lMOlDte6LATXDs1UaCNXttyAPTLfhOy9fjO8Ws/s1600/1000x1000.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRs4Plxfvs6EmOGstGhRYWjtXMJRa3o1CTgmtWsGoIKlxCWYu7YOqHHdvSysqAwC4SneIkZ2_cTsL3suELQOs8Kb1blmHklh_zkP3_6lMOlDte6LATXDs1UaCNXttyAPTLfhOy9fjO8Ws/s1600/1000x1000.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Oh yeah baby!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
After that epic conclusion to what was already a mind blowing concert, Trip arrives back to stage, duffel bag in hand, and watches Metallica play <i>Orion</i> in an empty stadium as the credits roll. I mean you can't complain, you really can't. Even if you're not a Metallica fan, watching this movie will kick your ass so hard you'll end up in a wheelchair. It's a true concert film, like it doesn't get any better than that. It's definitely worth watching on a big screen TV with a banging stereo system. Because to be honest this is one of the best modern performances I've ever seen by Metallica. These days they're not as good as they were live, and I'm sorry but Robert Trujillo's backing vocals cannot match Jason Newsted's. But all that aside this movie is worth the watch, I would really recommend it if you just wanted to take a break and watch pure radness and anarchy (which everyone needs once in a while).<br />

Boogie Nights.....what a fantastic movie. Now I would love to make this a one word review, but hey, that's not the way it goes (Unfortunately). But seriously, why hasn't anyone told me about it!! The minute I read the summary, I was hooked, I was like "Pause everything you're doing in life, and watch this movie.", no joke. In my opinion, Boogie Nights is the first movie to accurately give you an inside look at the excesses that pornographers engaged in the the 70's and 80's, drawing heavily from the likes of legendary pornographer John Holmes. The story is about high school dropout Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg) who works as a dishwasher in a nightclub. One night, he is discovered by porn director Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds), who decides to introduce Eddie to the porn industry. Eddie runs away from home and starts working for Jack using his new stage name "DIRK DIGGLER", probably one of the best fucking stage names ever!! So anyways, all is good until the 80's roll in and the excesses start to come.<br />
<br />
This movie has guts man, I'll give it that. It dives into the world of pornography full force, flipping off anyone who mentions the word "taboo". It gives us a detailed look into the life of a successful pornographic actor during the "Golden Age" of porn. It has a fine balance between violence and comedy, which is something hard to achieve, and I realized that when I tried to categorize it; I was like "This isn't a comedy, nor is it an action, or a drama". It's one of those movies you can't really classify, no matter what IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes tell you. I like the symbolism in the film in a sense that it shows us that even a nobody, can become a somebody, given the right circumstances (and the right body parts). And wow man, Julianne Moore was pretty hot in the 90's, holy shit!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimnfgTnX_7NbwXrYUC1FqGd870P0KUExhT6tcBZmu_XR_PAVoqSBaZ95deUgnqcXlTr_KW8IPpYlf282cRvrXIiZPXWj1uXS8QfZDyHdsJn_C4IxHCWCdr0L7pRdq6n2jZjDFqfzeJbLE/s1600/DirkDiggler1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimnfgTnX_7NbwXrYUC1FqGd870P0KUExhT6tcBZmu_XR_PAVoqSBaZ95deUgnqcXlTr_KW8IPpYlf282cRvrXIiZPXWj1uXS8QfZDyHdsJn_C4IxHCWCdr0L7pRdq6n2jZjDFqfzeJbLE/s1600/DirkDiggler1.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Eddie Adams aka Dirk Diggler</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I also like how despite the fact that there's a number of subplots, the movie does such a job in not fucking up how they're presented, smooth transition, that's the way to go. And all the sub-plots eventually come together to form the whole plot of the movie in such harmony I couldn't believe it. And my god but Mark Wahlberg does such a good job portraying Dirk, you'd actually think he was a pornstar in his past life. At the beginning he gains so much as a result of entering the porn industry, you start thinking of actually becoming a pornstar, but that's just the beginning, what happens next ain't so pretty. Lets just say that Dirk Diggler rises, then falls on his face...hard.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqUbngYRISTzMjzhrRHMquNwflm-SqbvEiG6X9HjcylS6ffAuCkzsq9hNq6Ey5HBIH8Q-wycejF4y03PxX05bw5NdSrm0QJXX9U4kWrlQfM8d9kbGLQ2sRjVI8TQ7LbhyphenhyphenlxyFyKVhKuEk/s1600/ANDERSON-BOOGIE-NIGHTS-CAST.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqUbngYRISTzMjzhrRHMquNwflm-SqbvEiG6X9HjcylS6ffAuCkzsq9hNq6Ey5HBIH8Q-wycejF4y03PxX05bw5NdSrm0QJXX9U4kWrlQfM8d9kbGLQ2sRjVI8TQ7LbhyphenhyphenlxyFyKVhKuEk/s1600/ANDERSON-BOOGIE-NIGHTS-CAST.jpg" height="298" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Perfect Cast</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
But, despite all the coolness and the glitz and glamour that Boogie Nights has to offer, it still bears a very important message. Too much of anything is bad for you, don't dive into the world of excess cause you're bound to break a leg and drown. But beside all that serious stuff, Boogie Nights is an amazing movie, I mean it is one of my favorites. Because it's just funky and cool, you know, with a good balance of action for good measure, and an amazing plot. You'll appreciate the movie, because it is worth it, trust me. One complaint though, the run time, 2 hours and 35 minutes; that's a lot of film. Apart from that, I haven't got anything negative to say. I'd say the only people who would complain would be like hardcore overcaring, overprotective parents; and you know when THEY complain, 9 times out of 10, the movie is bound to be awesome.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
I wanted to watch this movie the day it came out, which was
May 1st, but unfortunately I kind of lost track of time because that tends to
happen when you're on your summer vacation. So I had the chance to watch it
today and in 3D, which was pretty nice considering that I barely attend 3D
movies. Now I must say that I'm more of an Andrew Garfield fan than a Tobey Maguire
one. But in all honesty, I had high hopes for this film bearing in mind the fact
that I loved the first one, I'm sad to say it didn't quite deliver it for me. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
Let me start off with some good points, for instance the
battles between Spiderman and Electro are fantastic, I've never been so engaged
into a battle like this for quite some time and it's just a pleasure watching
them fight it out with awesome choreography and spectacular visuals and music,
I mean Hans Zimmer is the composer so you'd expect the music (especially during
battle scenes) to be epic, and oh boy it was. Jamie Foxxx was spectacular as
Electro, I had my doubts about him I must say, but he impressed the hell out of
me. Just the fact that he goes into extreme territories of obsession indicates
that he's not the type of guy you'd want to tread on. The CGI on him was terrifyingly
realistic and his character is just so unpredictable and live, you feel like
he's just doing to get recognition, and that's scary, how extreme he goes just
to be recognized. And let's not forget the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone was flawless, my god Emma Stone is beautiful! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs2t_QuSpbvV6XLIH0iscgtlm5bp6HmPlbqQfGDc2TkZseFoTWw-fgadqJPI1Y2qaH8mkRbdGeyZaIUpRrqFzTMZ6ckgQWwuVaV7q47zAQ3zV6USOVUOqS7yBULcw7XtM132iWszNzEIQ/s1600/emma-stone-spider-man.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs2t_QuSpbvV6XLIH0iscgtlm5bp6HmPlbqQfGDc2TkZseFoTWw-fgadqJPI1Y2qaH8mkRbdGeyZaIUpRrqFzTMZ6ckgQWwuVaV7q47zAQ3zV6USOVUOqS7yBULcw7XtM132iWszNzEIQ/s1600/emma-stone-spider-man.jpg" height="205" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Goddess</span> </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
And Dane DeHaan did
quite a good job portraying Harry Osbourne and I loved the way that he's
actually a goblin. As freaky as that may sound but he actually transforms into
a goblin. Rather than in the original Spiderman where the Green Goblin was just
Norman Osbourne wearing a goblin suit. Also
this film is meant to be seen in 3D cause you'd really be missing out, it's not
the kind of movie you'd watch in 2D because it won't make sense. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">But now let me movie to the negatives. First off, this movie
felt kind of like a videogame in some sequences, it was too CGI-ish. For instance
with the slow motion segments, I felt like I was playing a videogame where one
of the objectives is to save people before time runs out (you'll know what I'm
talking about when you watch it). The run time was just over 2 and a half
hours, but they were wasted, I'll tell you why. There were supposed to be 3
villains in this movie: Rhino, Electro, and the Green Goblin. Electro gets
enough screen time, so no problem there. Rhino and Green Goblin though, not so
much. Green Goblin only appears for a total of 15 minutes maybe, and Rhino
(which really pissed me off) only has about 5-7 minutes of screen time, OUT OF
2 AND A HALF HOURS!!! Instead they focused more on the relationship between
Gwen and Peter, like seriously I didn't give two shits, I just wanted to see
Rhino smash shit up. you'd think that they'd use 2 and a half hours efficiently,
but no they just had to complicate the love story. *SPOILERS* After all that
complex romantic side plot development, Gwen dies, hoo-fucking-ray *SPOILERS
END HERE*. Rhino and Green Goblin were so rushed that they didn't even bother
trying not to make it obvious, it's as clear as solid sunshine. Like seriously,
screw the romance and put more fight scenes. This is an action movie NOT a
romance film. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'd first like to say that 2013 was an awesome year with it's ups far outweighed its downs. Initially, I was supposed to make a best and worst list movies released in 2013, but since some movies that are released in 2013 in the US are gonna show in 2014 here in Bahrain, so I'm probably gonna release a best and worst list by mid-January.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But worry not, the following is a list of 13 personal and entertainment's best highlights of 2013:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>13) Iron Man 3's twist.</b> We both know that this was the last thing on our mind when we entered the theater, I won't spoil it for you in case you haven't watched the movie yet (although if you didn't, you gotta get your shit straight man!), but it made me scream "What the Fuck!" in the cinema.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>12) Captain Phillips' Ending. </b>I'm telling you, those 6-7 minutes in the end are good enough to grab Tom Hanks a third Academy Award.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: justify;"><tbody>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b style="font-weight: bold;">11) Ben Affleck cast as Batman in upcoming Man Of Steel Sequel. </b>This has to be one of the most disappointing decisions ever made, ever! Don't get me wrong, Ben is an exceptional actor and an even more exceptional director, but I just can't imagine him as batman; I don't think he can pull it off. In my mind Bruce Wayne/Batman will always be Christian Bale.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>10) GTA V.</b> Do I even need to elaborate on this one?</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>9) Last Vegas Ensemble. </b>Last Vegas was an extremely predictable and mediocre movie for me, but seeing Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline all in one movie was an unforgettable experience. The satisfaction I got from seeing these 4 superb talents all in one film doing what they do best was mind blowing. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b style="font-weight: bold;">8) The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. </b>You all know how much I loved this movie, despite its ending which was a complete pisser, I adore this movie so much that it had to be included on this list. </div>

<b style="font-weight: bold;">7) The Great Gatsby parties. </b>The Great Gatsby was not one of the best movie I saw in 2013, in fact, I don't even like it that much. It's deviation from the source material, Tobey Maguire, and the overall feel of the movie did not impress me. But the parties, my god, I loved the over-the-topness of them, they are exactly the way I imagined them when I read the book. </div>

<b>1) Breaking Bad. </b>The rise and fall of a king, the end of a masterpiece, but the memory remains! I started watching Breaking Bad in the summer of 2013, and I was so hooked to it that I got up to season 5 in one week. To this day, I can't stop talking about it, such a legendary show that won my heart. Breaking Bad is the best thing that happened to me this year, and I will continue to love the show forever! Now, Say My Name.....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I've waited a year, a whole year to watch this movie, I expected great things from it, and oh boy did it deliver. It surpassed my expectations, the wait is finally over and the reward was incredible. I just got back from watching The Desolation of Smaug like an hour ago, and I couldn't stop talking about it, it's actually one of the best films I've watched this year. It takes off directly-ish after the events of the first movie and it continues the story of Bilbo Baggins and his Dwarve companions' quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The movie was 2 hours and 40 minutes long, but I was so engaged and absorbed in the movie that I actually forgot about time itself! I did not want it to end. I felt like I was in another world, it was that amazing. I could not take my eyes off the screen, I was hooked, filled with suspense and excitement at every scene. It was definitely better than the first movie, but that's not a bad thing to say, that gives us a good sign of things to come with the third installation. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: justify;">As usual, the visuals in the movie were beyond epic, I still can't comprehend the fact that there are locations like this on our planet. The action scenes were fast paced, intense, and satisfying. The CGI was extremely convincing. And Smaug! Smaug was fantastic! Just the way I imagined him to be from the way he looks to the way he speaks and moves. We also see returning characters such as Legolas from the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, oh and even Gimli gets mentioned!! Oh damn I forgot to mention, Sauron (Not the eye of Sauron, but Sauron himself) has a cameo, which just puts the icing on the cake really!! It was a really satisfying movie, but the ending was kind of a pisser, you'll know what I'm talking about when you watch it. (Fuckin' Cliffhangers)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: justify;"><br /></span>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Smaug, the greatest dragon I've see in a movie</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: justify;">If I could summarise The Desolation of Smaug in one sentence, it would be something like: "A brilliant combination of romance, action, suspense, horror, and comedy all tied together with brilliant acting, amazing directing and execution, engaging storyline, and a wonderful cast." And don't forget that the book was a little over 300 pages long, and director Peter Jackson managed to stretch that into three movies, now that takes skill and a lot of imagination. Kudos Sir Peter!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Is it better than the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, to be honest, with the direction it's going and with my expectations, I think it's gonna be really close. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I won't even complain about the run time because I was so wrapped up in it that It didn't feel like 2 hours and 40 minutes passed. I urge everyone who enjoys movies to watch The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug right now! Would I ever recommend a bad movie to you guys? NEVER! <br />
Greetings fellow readers, it has been a while since I wrote here. I've been super busy after my<span style="color: red;"> <a href="http://thestormbreaker.blogspot.com/2013/08/pulp-fiction-1994.html"><span style="color: red;">Pulp Fiction</span></a></span><span style="color: blue;"> </span>review. Trust me, senior year ain't as easy as people say it is, it's HELL! But anyways, in the midst of all the late nights I spent studying and the slow paced school weeks, I actually manged to go to the cinema! I know, it may sound stupid, but you wouldn't know how relaxing it was for me to go to the theater and forget about life for almost 2 hours. So yeah, I watched <i>Runner, Runner </i>the other day starring Justin Timberlake, the incredibly gorgeous Gamma Arterton, and Ben Affleck. The story is basically about a man named Richie Furst (Justin Timberlake) who gets cheated in an online poker game, so he decides to go meet the biggest face in online poker, Ivan Block (Ben Affleck) to get his money back. Instead he gets a job offer from Block himself, little does he know that he is gonna get into a world of trouble...<br />
<br />
Until this moment, I don't know how to feel about this movie. Was my mind tricked into all the glamour and galore of the movie that it overlooked all it's mistakes? Well, no. But truth be told, I did like the fact that the movie reminded me of the summer for some reason. All the glamour and the beautiful scenery made me remember the amazing times I had in the summer of 2013. That's about the only good thing I can say about this movie. Oh and Deadmau5 made a cameo, which was awesome!<br />
<br />
The thing is, <i>Runner Runner </i>just fails to please me. It's high life, tropical feel is just a mask behind a VERY faulty movie. Ben Affleck was horrible in the movie, seriously, this is not what I expected to witness when I entered the theater; I'm not saying that my expectations were high in the first place, but they weren't set to "horrible" too. It's literally like seeing a totally different person act, I have my doubts that that was actually Ben Affleck, what a disappointment. <i>Runner Runner </i>is a great example of when a studio has some spare money on hand and contracts with some big actors/actresses, they just make a movie for the sake of making a movie. And the plot was so fucking predictable contained no twists whatsoever. Moreover, it felt extremely rushed and poorly executed, it's like they wrote the script a week before filming and they shot everything in one take. That's not how you make a movie man!<br />
<br />
I've seen much better movies in my day. <i>Runner Runner </i>is a movie that comes and goes without anyone paying much attention to it. I should be raining fire on this shit-fest, but I'm writing this with my eyes half closed, so pardon me. It goes without saying that I WAS DECEIVED!! I spent my hard earned money on a movie that's supposed to be rented and watched over the weekend, yes, that's how bad it is. It got the "rent" stamp.<br />

<br />
I can't believe I haven't written a review on Pulp Fiction yet! How could I overlook one of my all time favorite movies? WHAT WAS I THINKING!! But, after a long break from movie reviewing, I am happy to announce that I'm back in full force this time. Released on October 14th 1994, Pulp Fiction was a box office and critical hit. I won't ruin the story for you but it basically involves 7 sequence of events and throughout the film we witness how they are tied together.<br />
<br />
The acting in Pulp Fiction was on point. Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) have such an extraordinary on-screen chemistry together it's actually unbelievable, it's like they were born to be partners in this movie. The script was fantastic and the dialogue in the movie was so smooth and natural and John Travolta's improvised line "I shot Marvin in the face" has to be one of the best improvised lines I've ever heard. Not to mention the one liners were fantastic.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8ZjGAbMIT1aaG0uTb1SafWUhyisbwnReQXf4Ba8DHFwQZnwqpnHlUxJ4-gzyvlYfxDFNvZG2-quMWfXvs7MXD1UfeMHZCxutBg7XiB3RcEiEcSEQY1UEs9uMHyRjTxlWhZLfetY9aR3M/s1600/pulp24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8ZjGAbMIT1aaG0uTb1SafWUhyisbwnReQXf4Ba8DHFwQZnwqpnHlUxJ4-gzyvlYfxDFNvZG2-quMWfXvs7MXD1UfeMHZCxutBg7XiB3RcEiEcSEQY1UEs9uMHyRjTxlWhZLfetY9aR3M/s400/pulp24.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Pulp Fiction is pure genius, the technique used to tie together events that seem so random is just extraordinary. Another thing I loved about this movie was the joyful atmosphere it creates. The movie is almost 2 and a half hours long but truth be told, It didn't even feel like two hours because of the lively atmosphere. I was so hooked to the movie first time watching it that I couldn't even pause it, it's that powerful. Not to mention, the soundtrack was amazing, it matched the movie like toast matches butter.<br />
<br />
So what are you waiting for? Grab that Royale with Cheese in one hand and that glass of beer in another and fill your fries with mayonnaise, because you're about to watch one of the greatest movies ever made. I strongly recommend watching this film because it's one of those films that revolutionized the modern movie industry in my opinion. So I hope you have fun watching it, and leave your feedback on the comment section.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCWZ4HIJBIZYm0ThRP9PEdRLa7yON3OKXmd_-jKH9c5tDxeKpOs-5hmjma4pEThMvZ3JPFCxQ21pmZjnbYwzqsnT_bBHc84CDbtPUTmtByVNLL_i0v11UuY0XTCUtdbaKW03L9E6C8qF8/s1600/poster-miami-vice-movie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCWZ4HIJBIZYm0ThRP9PEdRLa7yON3OKXmd_-jKH9c5tDxeKpOs-5hmjma4pEThMvZ3JPFCxQ21pmZjnbYwzqsnT_bBHc84CDbtPUTmtByVNLL_i0v11UuY0XTCUtdbaKW03L9E6C8qF8/s400/poster-miami-vice-movie.jpg" width="280" /></a></div>
<br />
Miami Vice is really one of those movies that I really looked forward to watching for a long time. I bought the DVD but I kept stalling and stalling. But I forced myself to watch it today, which was....a mistake *sigh*. Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell, Miami, drug busts, and flashy sports cars. What could go wrong? Well, my hopes for a great movie crash landed and burned so badly that I could feel the heat in my insides. It ruined my day, yes it was that bad. The plot tells us the story of two Miami police detectives who go undercover as drug smugglers in order to combat drug trafficking. What sounds like a potentially good plot is in fact killed by some horrible acting, bad camerawork, and an awful romantic sub-plot.<br />
<br />
I never watched the series from the 80's, but I'm not here to compare. Now, was this movie shot with a camcorder bought form amazon.com? Or a mobile camera, hmmm. It sure felt like it. Although they were using a Digital Movie Camera, which captures movies as digital images, it just failed badly in my opinion.Why didn't they just use a normal movie camera, that would've worked. The camerawork is so bad. It doesn't even feel like a proper motion picture, I honestly felt like I was watching an undercover drug bust documentary on The National Geographic Channel, seriously. Miami Vice had a budget of over 100 million Dollars, and they didn't have the decency to employ a proper cameraman?<br />
<br />
Gong Li, the lady that portrayed Isabella, just pissed me off so badly. She was horrendous. She projects no emotion when talking. She was like a robot, just reciting what she read in the script, no emotion, no change of tone, just the same rhythm throughout the movie. It doesn't feel natural, it feels like its been recorded and she was just lip syncing. The romantic sub-plot with her and Sonny (Colin Farrell) was catastrophic. There was barely any chemistry between the two characters.<br />
<br />

<br />
There are a few good points about the movie though. For instance the chemistry between Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell was actually pretty decent. And I really enjoyed the bittersweet ending, because I didn't see that coming. I always thought that it would be a happy ending. But seriously, Don't watch the movie. Unless you're REALLY bored. Its totally not worth wasting your time on. I was shocked, I never expected it to be that bad.<br />

Disordered is a short 10 minute film that was featured in a competition amongst two other films in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The films were shown in the largest cinema in the country (I'm talking huge here), in which they were judged by a panel of three theater experts. The story is about a gangster who's wife was murdered, in his quest to find the killer, he starts to question reality from fantasy, hence the title: "Disordered".<br />
<br />
I actually just got the chance to watch Disordered now, Its been like five minutes since I finished watching it. Just to get this out of the way, although my cousin is the main actor in this film, I am not letting this fact influence my opinion on the movie. Now that that's clear, let's get this show on the road shall we?<br />
<br />
Ok so the movie starts out and I immediately get the impression that something bad is gonna happen, which is good because anticipation induces suspense, I liked that. I'll be honest, I clapped when my cousin said his first lines. It's definitely not lacking intensity, I mean throughout the 10 minutes, I actually was kinda biting my nails. The music, although a bit too loud, complemented the movie really well. The acting was convincing. The last scene in the movie was intense, and overall it was not that bad a movie actually. For a short film, the character development for the main character, Al Bash (Hassan Ahmed), wasn't detailed, but it was satisfying.<br />
<br />
Now we move on to the negative points. I didn't like the dialogue in the movie, I felt like it was something that they just read and recited, it didn't feel natural, there wasn't much emotion. The ending, although containing a twist, disappointed me; it was very abrupt, and not in a good way. Moreover, the film did have some acting "errors" if I may say so. Like the smile in the final scene, although I would've just overlooked it, but you never know when mistakes can be repeated.<br />
<br />
But let's not forget, this is a first time effort, and I'm impressed. The directing and editing were fantastic. I'm really happy with the outcome, I just wanna say to the team that made the movie, Bravo. I mean you did a good job. It's not easy to make a movie, trust me it's not a walk in the park. So I hope you take my points to heart, because without criticism, you can never learn. Good luck in any future projects.<br />

<br />
I honestly lost count of how many times I watched this movie, it's actually pretty ridiculous because every time I watch it I feel like it's my first time seeing it. It's one of those movies that you just can't get enough of. After watching this film, my respect and admiration for both Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington reached sky high. The story is basically about a man named Jake (Ethan Hawke) being evaluated by a respected narcotics detective Alonso Harris (Denzel Washington) throughout a 24 hour period. as the story unfolds, we find out that in order to be a narcotics officer, you need to bend some rules, and we also discover a dark secret about Alonso.<br />
<br />
What I admired about this move is that, unlike many other films, it depicts L.A in a way that's I felt was always hidden in films. It shows the real L.A that people know, not the one that's mostly depicted in films, and I respected that very much. I think there is no doubt that the real star in this movie is most definitely Denzel Washington. That guy impressed the hell out of me, his acting was right on point and he made it look so natural and smooth, you'd think that he'd actually been a narcotics officer before. Everything from his body language, his style of talking, all the way up to the way he dresses. In fact he nailed the part so well that he got an Academy Award for Best Actor, you can't argue with that. What I also liked about his character was the fact that you never know if he was good or bad until the end, you can never tell, and to be honest not many people can pull that off as convincingly as he did in my opinion.<br />
<br />
Ethan Hawke also did a fantastic job portraying Jake, in fact he did such a brilliant job that he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The soundtrack was pretty awesome, the setting was on point, the story was intriguing, and the cast was fantastic. I definitely recommend this movie because it's one of those movie that you just have to watch without any excuse. Trust me you won't be disappointed.<br />

Hey Guys! I'm officially a high school senior at school and let me tell you, it WAS NOT an easy year, academically and socially. Anyways I'm very excited to say that I have the whole summer to write on this blog, It'll be raining reviews soon! I'm also extremely happy to announce that my cousin, Hassan Ahmed Janahi, is starring in his first movie, as the main character! It's a short film called "Disordered", I'll hopefully review it when it gets released on the 2nd of July. I watched it's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4IUjSzR6gQ"><span id="goog_491991994"></span>trailer<span id="goog_491991995"></span></a> the other day and I was really impressed (my cousin is the guy that gives a death stare). I was supposed to have a cameo in the movie as a garage mechanic, but my part was taken (CURSES!!). I'm very happy for him and I hope this will be the first of many more films to come. If you are indeed in Bahrain, come and watch it at the Bahrain City Center cinema on July the 2nd, I'll DEFINITELY be there. </div>

Hey guys! How's it going, hope you all are enjoying yourselves (and the movies you're watching). I'm writing this post as something to kinda hold you over, I'm under a lot of tension at the moment because of my external exams and I barely have time to write up anything. But alas! summer is right around the corner and I do have some big plans for this blog. Just know that I'm forever thankful for all your support my dear readers. So anyways, I've been a blogger for about ten months now and let me tell you, it's been great! I just want to dedicate this post to anyone who has just started as a movie blogger or someone who is aspiring to be one.<br />
<br />
Here's some tips that I can give all you early/aspiring movie bloggers:<br />
<br />
<b>1. Start by watching really old movies, then work your way up: </b>Like every subject you want to write about, you need to do some research on its historical background and witness how it revolutionized throughout the years. This will give you a better understanding of how films were made back in the day and trust me, you will learn a lot from old movies. The oldest movie I own is <i>Der Golem </i>that was released in 1915!<br />
<br />
<b>2. Don't let anything cloud your judgement: </b>In the end, movie reviewing is all about presenting your own opinion, so don't let anyone or anything change your opinion on any movie.<br />
<br />
<b>3.Build your vocabulary:</b> This step is extremely crucial to any movie reviewer, to build your vocab, especially your descriptive language. As a non-native English speaker, it was really hard for me in the beginning, but I worked on my English and look at me now! Movie reviewing is conveying your emotions about a certain movie to your audience, so descriptive language is key.<br />
<br />
<b>4.Open up to different genres: </b>When I first started, I hated Romantic comedies, historical movies, and a lot of other different genres. But then I realized that this wasn't going to make me an accomplished reviewer, so I forced myself to watch movies in the genres that I previously hated, and let me tell you, some of the movies I watched were absolutely fantastic.<br />
<br />
<b>5.Collect DVD's: </b>You don't have to do this but it'll look really good because that will show you love and dedication for movies. ]<br />
<br />
<b>6.READ,READ,READ: </b>Read until your mind can't take anymore. Read the biography of any actor/actress, read reviews of other critics, and any movie news you can get a hold of. This will not only make you more creative in your writing, but it'll also give you a better understanding of the movie industry nowadays.<br />
<br />
So I hope that these tips help you , and remember, creativity has no limits.<br />

<br />
It's been a while. Hello my dear readers, I'm very glad to inform you that I have finished my finals, and I'm officially on a semi-summer vacation since I do still have some IGCSE's. Anyways, I got the chance to watch <i>Iron Man 3 </i>this weekend, and I enjoyed it.....alot. As you may or may not know, I am a HUGE Batman fan so it's only natural that I have this mild hatred for Marvel characters, but hey, I won't let that get in the way of my opinion on a movie.<br />
<br />
So anyways, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is suffering from panic attacks and anxiety because of the events from <i>The Avengers. </i>Nonetheless, as a new foe, The Mandarin (Sir Ben Kingsley) arises, it's up to Tony to fight his inner demons and protect the security of himself and that of the United States of America.<br />
<br />
First of all I would like to say that Robert Downey Jr. is one of my all time favorite actors and I believe that he was literally born to play Tony Stark/Iron Man, I honestly can't think of any other person that can portray Tony other than him. The plot is definitely more interesting than the first two in my opinion and it this time, it's personal in every meaning of the word. There's definitely more gadget galore going on in this movie, and as a technology freak, I could do nothing but appreciate that. Another thing I appreciated was the amount of humor that was injected in the movie, it's honestly unexpected and it did make me laugh maybe a little too much in the theater (yeah, I was getting death stares from some people). Also, the plot is twisty, which is always a good thing because it makes the movie unpredictable, and you guys know how I feel about predictable movies. Iron Man 3 is a pure popcorn flick, definitely not Oscar material in my opinion but it's just a very entertaining movie, I was really satisfied with the outcome and it really exceeded my expectations.<br />
<br />
So, what are you waiting for? Get out of the house, go to the theater, grab some Dr.Pepper and a bucket of popcorn, and ENJOY. I promise you guys won't be disappointed with the outcome, and I'm positive that you'll be just as entertained as I was, oh and stick around for the post credits scene, a very unexpected character will make an appearance. By the way, my Metropolis DVD finally (it took two months) arrived today, it comes with the restored version of the movie and a 50-page booklet, how spectacular!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
This may seem odd, but I actually watched Rush Hour for the first time last night, weird right? I should've watched that movie ages ago. Anyways, so yeah people<i> A Good Day To Die Hard, </i>or as I like to call it, <i>DIE HARD 5</i>!!<i> </i>Truth be told, I really didn't expect this one to be as good as the last one, and what do you know!! I was correct. I've been a die hard <i>Die Hard </i>fan for a long time now (<i>Die Hard 2</i> is my favorite) and to be honest, I hated this one as a <i>Die Hard</i> film, it was like the black sheep of the herd. I'm not saying that it was a HORRIBLE movie, oh no no no, what I mean is, don't pin your hopes on this being like all of the previous <i>Die Hard</i> movies.<br />
<br />
John McClane travels to Russia to help his estranged son get put of trouble, but he discovers that his son is actually CIA and is on top secret mission that, if failed, could result in a catastrophe (cliche?). Apart from the fact that it's an action packed thrill ride from beginning to end (literally),<i> Die Hard 5</i> just fails to please me. Let's start of with the rant about sequels, IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A SUCCESSFUL MOVIE FRANCHISE DON'T MAKE SEQUELS THAT WILL KILL IT!!! Seriously, when will movie makers realize that this is wrong? Moving on, how many times does John have to repeat "I'm on vacation." what was this supposed to be the catchphrase or something? I was fine with "Yippee ki-yay motherfucker!"; besides, the one time he says it in the movie, you can barely hear it. Another thing that pissed me off was the fact that the father and son team actually went to Chernobyl without any form of protection from all the radiation, I know this may sound ridiculous, but there's a limit as to how much you can exaggerate in an action flick. Finally, I felt like this movie was rushed, it's like Bruce Willis just wanted to get it over and done with as fast as possible.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI3pVUV-OcUXBYA-m27lEngQoMh4OSmYsvcOeMcJoM1AiJj9LtHQrK2PHe99YZs9gfAg7uFpa7CsEF78MAnvUia00Tn8GNky845QsYsPYva6T_zPxMz16dZkOCqDbML_Fo5uSkZsh8yCc/s1600/safety-sign-radiation.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI3pVUV-OcUXBYA-m27lEngQoMh4OSmYsvcOeMcJoM1AiJj9LtHQrK2PHe99YZs9gfAg7uFpa7CsEF78MAnvUia00Tn8GNky845QsYsPYva6T_zPxMz16dZkOCqDbML_Fo5uSkZsh8yCc/s320/safety-sign-radiation.jpg" width="272" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">People don't read signs nowadays</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the film does have some positive points after all. For instance, my bam-bam-kaboom-meter (yeah that's what I call it) was filled right to the top. Moreover, the amount of badassery in the movie is just ridiculous, and there are a lot of unexpected twists. AND, it's always good to see Bruce Willis on the big screen, god that guy is just amazing. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To sum up, if you're looking for an good action flick, go right ahead and watch this movie. But if you are a huge Die Hard fan like I am, don't even bother, like seriously, DON'T EVEN BOTHER!!</div>
